Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly Tran Thanh Man and Speaker of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Victorovich Volodin reached the agreement during their meeting on Monday, as part of a three-day visit.

Welcoming Man’s first official visit to Russia after he took office in May this year, Volodin expressed his belief that this trip will create momentum to foster cooperation between the two parliaments, forming a firm foundation for boosting the development of the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Volodin affirmed that Russia always attaches importance to relations with Vietnam, considering the Southeast Asian country a close partner.

He emphasized that all members of the State Duma's five political parties highly agree on strengthening the friendship and all-round cooperation with Vietnam.

Chairman Man highlighted Volodin’s contributions to strengthening the bilateral relations, including parliamentary cooperation, between the two nations.

He also affirmed that Vietnam attributes importance to promoting a cooperative relationship with Russia in all spheres.

Vietnam’s top legislator lauded the achievements gained over the last 30 years since the signing of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between Vietnam and Russia, and during 12 years of their comprehensive strategic partnership.

Man and Volodin will also discuss how to promote and expand cooperation commensurate with their already successful partnership.

Man stated that specific measures to bolster cooperation in each field will be on the agenda of the Vietnam-Russia Intergovernmental Committee, which will be conducted post-Volodin visit.

Volodin agreed that the two legislative bodies will keep creating favorable legal conditions for the two nations’ executive agencies to implement cooperation activities, sharing the need to continue to support each other at regional and international multilateral parliamentary forums.

Man extended his thanks to the Russian government for creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese communities to live, work, and study in Russia, and for enabling them to integrate into local society and serve as a bridge of friendship and cooperation between the two peoples and nations.

The Vietnamese parliament leader highlighted that 20 partnerships have been set up between Vietnamese and Russian localities, while calling for more effective promotion.

He urged both countries to sign pending agreements for Vietnamese citizens to work in Russia and facilitate travel by citizens between both countries.

The two top legislators also agreed to jointly organize diverse activities toward celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2025.
