Connecting agricultural production and consumption networks in Hanoi

Hanoi's companies need to establish production links in the value chain for stable, quality raw material supply.

The "Supply-Demand Connection Program for the Agricultural Processing Sector," organized by the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade and Ha Dong District on September 28-29 at Duong Noi Residential Area with 80 booths aims to promote agricultural products from the city’s businesses.

Speaking at the opening ceremony on September 27, Vuong Dinh Thanh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Center for Industrial Promotion and Industrial Development Consulting (IDC Hanoi), said the event helps enhance understanding of sustainable production and consumption network, reflecting Hanoi's commitment to sustainable practices.

Talking about agricultural processing, he said it's vital in the production value chain, with Hanoi having 2,689 establishments in this sector, including 400 focused on processing, providing significant amounts of processed food daily.

To increase the value of agricultural products and address issues during harvest, Hanoi has implemented different measures to promote the application of science and technology in production, processing, and traceability that are helpful for food processing.

Thanh said companies need to establish production links within the production-processing-consumption value chain to ensure a stable supply of quality raw materials for processing.

Authorities will monitor production, harvesting, and storage processes, selecting leading companies with the necessary capital, technology, and market capabilities to guide the supply chain, he suggested.
