With the theme “City Sale” this year, the event will be held concurrently at the Union Square shopping mall in District 1, SC Vivo City shopping mall in District 7 and the Southern Regional Centre for Science and Information Technology in District 11, with more than 500 brands taking part.

Lê Huỳnh Minh Tú, deputy director of the city Department of Industry and Trade, said last year there had been two large promotions with the theme “Flash Sale” at Tân Sơn Nhất hotel and Union Square with 400 major domestic and international brands attracting a large number of shoppers.

Based on their success, the department has decided to organise the event this year on a bigger scale in collaboration with the people’s Committees of districts 1, 7 and 11, he added.

Nguyễn Khắc Hiếu, acting director of the Centre for Supporting Industries Development, said the brands would include Banana Republic, Calvin Klein, Cotton On, Nike, Gap, Mango, Old Navy, OVS, and Mothercare, Gucci, Burberry, Chloe, Marc Jacobs, Polo, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Moschino, Lacoste, Adidas, Skechers, Puma, Ecco, Geox, Furla, Pierre Cardin, Casio, Whoo, Ohui, Sum, L’Oreal, Yves Rocher, and Vera.

They will offer discounts of up to 80 per cent on cosmetics, perfumes, fashion items, watches, bags, formal and sports shoes, luggage, and healthcare and homecare products.

Many sellers will also offer billions of đồng worth of unconditional cashback vouchers and thousands of attractive gifts to customers.

There will be additional vouchers of VNĐ50,000-200,000 when making cashless payments.

Xanh SM, which provides EV-ride hailing services, will also offer promotions for customers.

Hiếu said the official portal of the 2024 Shopping Season is at www.shoppingseason.vn with comprehensive information about the event such as time, venues, participating brands, promotions, gift programmes, vouchers, and others.

Tú said City Sale is one of the practical activities in the 2024 Shopping Season programme for stimulating consumption to boost retail sales, connecting businesses with consumers, enabling the later to buy branded, authentic, high-quality products at the best prices, and helping attract domestic and international tourists to the city.
