Ministry auctions import of 126,000 tonnes of sugar

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) has issued decisions regarding the distribution of import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024.

As per Decision No 2226, the allocation of import tariff quotas for sugar (HS code 17.01) in 2024, totalling 126,000 tonnes, will be conducted through auctions in September.

Decision No 2227/QD-BCT has sanctioned the formation of an eight-member Council to oversee the allocation of import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024 through auctions.

Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Nguyễn Sinh Nhật Tân, will chair the council, with Trần Thanh Hải, Deputy Director of the Import-Export Department at the MoIT, serving as the Vice Chairman.

Other members will represent various departments and customs offices under the MoIT, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the General Department of Customs undet the Ministry of Finance.

To carry out these decisions effectively, the MoIT will collaborate with relevant ministries and sectors to facilitate the allocation of import tariff quotas for sugar in 2024.
