Hanoi honors projects supporting female startups

A festival to support women in start-ups and green transition, and a fair to promote safe agricultural products by women in the capital will run through August 25 in Hanoi.

Fifteen outstanding projects shortlisted in a competition to support women in business start-ups and green transition were awarded by the Hanoi Women's Union for the competition on the Capital's Women Startups and Green Transition.

At the award ceremony on August 23, Le Kim Anh, President of the Hanoi Women's Union, shared that as part of the 2024 initiative to support women entrepreneurs, the contest received an impressive 127 project submissions.

She emphasized that this initiative encourages women-led businesses, cooperatives, and groups to propose innovative projects to improve production and business processes.

"The goal is to create products that are economically valuable and environmentally friendly, using energy and resources efficiently. This will help build the brand of Vietnamese products, promote a circular and green economy, and spread positive values within the community," she said.

The organizing committee presented awards from the Hanoi People's Committee to eight exemplary female artisans and skilled workers from traditional craft villages.

During the three-day festival, more than 100 businesses, cooperatives, and production units marketed agricultural products from women-owned enterprises, including those that meet VietGap and  OCOP (One Commune One Product) standards, as well as high-tech applications in Hanoi.

These activities provide opportunities for production facilities, cooperatives, and women-run businesses to connect and strengthen the production-consumption chain, thereby building consumer confidence in the quality and brand of Vietnamese products and supporting the ongoing campaign "Vietnamese People Prioritize Using Vietnamese Goods".

More than 50.4% of the people in Hanoi are women, and they are involved in all facets of society. They have played a crucial role in digital transformation and the development of a digital economy, especially in promoting traditional craft villages and boosting agricultural production efficiency. This is consistent with efforts to preserve and promote cultural and historical values.

This initiative is a meaningful celebration of the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and the National Day (September 2), as well as the successful 18th Congress of the Hanoi Fatherland Front for the term 2024-2029. It's also part of a series of activities to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the capital's liberation (October 10, 1954 - 2024).
