Chilli exports to Taiwan surges by 640 per cent
Việt Nam exported 37 tonnes of chilli to Taiwan (China) in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year growth of 640 per cent.

According to the Việt Nam Pepper Association (VPA), the total chilli export volume of the whole country reached 8,023 tonnes in the past seven months, an increase of 3.5 per cent over the same period last year.
Of which, China was the largest chilli export market of Việt Nam in the seven months, reaching 6,834 tonnes, accounting for 85.2 per cent of total export output, but declining 1.9 per cent year-on-year.
Ranking second is the Lao market with 810 tonnes, accounting for 10 per cent; up 44.6 per cent over the same period.
The US market ranked third, reaching 134 tonnes, up 157.7 per cent.
Notably, chilli exports recorded strong growth in other markets other than Taiwan (China), with exports to Senegal increasing by 300 per cent.
Overall the country's chilli exports reached US$20 million last year, equivalent to 10,173 tonnes, up 107 per cent over the previous year.
