Besides the domestic consumption, Bắc Giang has increased the lychee export to many markets, including the US, Japan, EU, Australia and Canada, according to the province's Department of Industry and Trade.

As of June, over 24,500 tonnes were exported to China. Other export destinations included the EU (53 tonnes), Japan (45 tonnes), Australia (42 tonnes), the US (20 tonnes), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) (21 tonnes), Canada (16 tonnes) and South East Asian countries (18 tonnes).

The province exported over 24,700 tonnes of lychees, accounting for more than 28.9 per cent of the total consumption, while domestic sales exceeded 60,900 tonnes, making up over 71 per cent.

Bắc Giang lychees are currently exported to 30 countries and territories.

The selling price this year is much higher than in previous years. For early-ripening lychee, the price ranges from VNĐ25,000-70,000 per kilo, while the price of main-season lychee ranges from VNĐ55,000-85,000 per kilo, the highest ever.

The provincial Industry and Trade Department said this year, the main-season lychee output of the province has decreased by about 50 per cent, but the quality of lychee is the highest ever because lychee growers in the province continue to better apply scientific and technical advances and experience in cultivation. At the same time, the sectors have prepared good conditions for export.

In 2024, the whole province focuses on the production in 223 coded growing areas with a total area of about 17,100ha, having an estimated output of 34,000 tonnes for export to markets.

Of which, 130 coded growing areas with an area of 16,000ha produce lychees exported to China, with an estimated output of 30,000 tonnes. About 103 other coded growing areas with a total output of about 4,000 tonnes are exported to other markets with high demand.

In addition, the province will promote trade promotion solutions, such as supporting businesses and cooperatives to connect, negotiate and sign cooperation agreements on effectively exporting lychees.

In 2024, the total area of growing lychee trees in Bắc Giang reaches 29,700ha, including 15,600ha producing safe lychee according to VietGAP standards, and 82ha producing lychee under GlobalGAP.
