Vietnamese dealership offers free charging to BYD car owners this year

All customers who buy BYD electric vehicles at Bitcar, the largest dealership for BYD in Vietnam, will be eligible for free charging at its showrooms from now until the end of 2024, a representative of the Chinese auto brand told an inauguration ceremony for a BYD Bitcar showroom in Hanoi on Saturday.

Other local dealers have not issued any announcement about a free charging program.

Each Bitcar showroom is equipped with two EV fast-charge stations at 60 kW and 120 kW, along with a seven-kW charger.

“Customers can visit Bitcar showrooms round the clock to charge their BYD cars,” said a representative of Bitcar.

Bitcar is running showrooms in Long Bien District under Hanoi, Bac Giang Province, Quang Ninh Province, and Thanh Hoa Province.

As these Bitcar showrooms are located in the northern region, owners of BYD cars in the central and southern regions can charge their vehicles either at home or at charging stations managed by other providers such as EV One and EverCharge.

EV One operates multiple charging stations across the country, including two locations in Hanoi, where the fee is VND9,900 (US$0.4) per kWh.

In contrast, EverCharge charges VND4,000 (US$0.15) per kWh at the Duy Tan charging station in Hanoi.

However, at the Thanh Tri charging point in the capital, the fee is set at VND8,000 ($0.3) per kWh.

Vietnamese EV maker VinFast is dominating the charging infrastructure system in the nation, but it has yet to plan to share the charging network with other brands.

Therefore, BYD Vietnam should soon adopt appropriate measures for charging to fulfill its target of opening 100 dealerships in the local market.

Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD is supplying three electric car models to Vietnam, including the Dolphin, Atto 3, and Seal.
