A representative of Toyota Vietnam confirmed to local reporters that the firm suspended the import of the Yaris after assessing the domestic demand for the model.
The Toyota Yaris disappeared from the official website of Toyota Vietnam, while local dealerships have discontinued receiving orders for the B-segment hatchback version.
Since the start of 2024, sales of the Toyota Yaris have fallen sharply in Vietnam, reaching only eight units nationwide.
In May, no Yaris cars went to customers in the Vietnamese market.
Many local dealerships no longer display the model at their showrooms.
The Toyota Yaris vehicles available in Vietnam were imported from Thailand, so the model was more expensive than others in the same segment.
In the Thai market, the Yaris got a facelift, but the new version is not expected to enter Vietnam.

As crossovers are highly popular in Vietnam, local consumers prefer the Yaris Cross to the Yaris.
Therefore, Toyota Vietnam is focusing on the Yaris Cross and stopped the delivery of the Yaris.
After the withdrawal of the Toyota Yaris, only the Suzuki Swift and Mazda2 remain in the B-segment hatchback market in Vietnam.
The BYD Dolphin will join the category in Vietnam in the coming months.
In 2022, the Toyota Rush, a multi-purpose vehicle, left the Vietnamese market without any official information.
Before the disappearance of the Toyota Yaris from Vietnam, the Mazda BT-50, a mid-size pickup truck produced by Japanese manufacturer Mazda, and Suzuki Ciaz, a subcompact sedan produced by Suzuki, exited the local market.
