China investment in Cambodia reaches $1.3bn
China has invested $1.3 billion in Cambodia in the first half of this year, accounting for 42% of the total investment capital in the country.
The figures were released by Sun Chanthol, the First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC), when he co-presided with Wang Wenbin, the newly appointed ambassador of China to Cambodia, a ceremony to unveil the signpost of “Xi Jinping Boulevard” this morning.
Chanthol stated that China was ranked first for providing Cambodia with concessional loans and grant aids with a total of over $3 billion for the construction of roads with a total length of 4,000 kilometres, 16 major bridges with a total length of 14,000 metres, and other infrastructure.
Chanthol attributed Cambodia’s fast development in all sectors to peace, and took the opportunity to thank China and her people for their assistance to Cambodia’s socio-economic development.
