CCC plans to establish EU liaisons
In a move to bolster foreign investment, the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce (CCC) has announced plans to establish additional liaisons abroad, with a particular focus on the European Union.
The new outposts will serve as dedicated resources for European investors, providing them with targeted information and support to encourage investment in Cambodia, said CCC’s Vice-President Lim Heng.
As planned, CCC liaisons will be established in France and Italy, he said, citing that the specific time of the launch has not reached a final decision.
“By establishing liaisons within the EU, we can bridge the information gap and directly address the specific needs and concerns of European investors,” Heng told Khmer Times on Thursday.
The liaisons could play a crucial role in facilitating communication and fostering connections between European companies and Cambodian businesses, he added.
Cambodia’s trade with the European Union (EU) continues to surge, with exports to the bloc recording $1.56 billion in the first five months of 2024.
By establishing a direct line of communication with European investors, Cambodia can showcase its economic potential and create a more favourable investment climate, Heng said.
This initiative comes amid Cambodia’s ongoing efforts to diversify its foreign investment portfolio. CCC also has a plan to establish liaison offices in Adelaide, Australia.
According to Heng, to date, the CCC liaisons have been established in countries namely Japan, Montreal and Toronto in Canada, Long Beach in the United States, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia.
The purpose of setting up the CCC liaison is to attract investment and promote the new investment law and economic policies to companies abroad to understand about the investment pictures and potential, he said.
