The Malaysia Mega Sale 2024 campaign will last from June 15 to July 31.
This initiative not only promotes Malaysia as a premier shopping destination but aims to revitalize the national economy which includes the accommodation, gastronomy, and tourism sectors.
Vietnamese tourists will have a chance to buy air tickets and book hotel rooms in Malaysian cities with a discount of up to 30 percent if they make bookings between June 15 and July 31 for tours from June 15 to March 31 next year.
Tourism Malaysia expects to attract Vietnamese tourists and those from other markets to shop in and explore its country.
Nor Hayati Zainuddin, director of Tourism Malaysia in Vietnam, said shopping is an indispensable part of tours.
With unique and attractive promotion programs, Malaysia wants to upgrade it into a leading destination for shopping amid the global tourism recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2023, Malaysia welcomed 344,361 Vietnamese visitors, while 470,105 Malaysian tourists visited Vietnam, Voice of Vietnam reported.
