Khmer village products to be on display at two-day exhibition
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) is gearing up to host a two-day agricultural exhibition titled ‘Khmer Agricultural Village’ and a forum on ‘Agricultural Flavours’ from June 1-2 which aims to put the spotlight on Cambodia’s agricultural sector and connect consumers with products grown and produced by local farmers.
The two-day event, scheduled to be held at Chip Mong Mega Mall 271, will provide an opportunity to connect producers and buyers, as well as inspire discussions on the need to propagate the use of local agricultural products.
Visitors to the exhibition can expect a display of agricultural products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, alongside a variety of processed agricultural goods.
“The exhibition and forum are targetted to inspire nationalism, help Cambodian farmers and strengthen support for Cambodian agriculture among all stakeholders, especially consumers,” stated MAFF in a release.
The ministry stated that public participation would encourage Cambodian farmers and help the country reduce its dependence on imports of agricultural products.
The exhibition will showcase every aspect of agriculture including live animals, agricultural machinery, aquaculture and processed agricultural products.
The expo will be attended by Prime Minister Hun Manet’s spouse Pich Chanmony, and key leaders from the agriculture sector.
Prime Minister Hun Manet has called on people to help buy more Cambodian products to help promote nationalism.
In a statement released ahead of the 7th National Day for the Promotion of the Use of Khmer Products on April 9, under the theme, ‘Sustainable Production and Supply Are One Village, One Product Movement’, the Prime Minister said, “I would like to call on all citizens to actively support and encourage the use of local products as much as possible to promote national prestige and nationalism.”
The Prime Minister also instructed relevant ministries and institutions at both the national and sub-national levels, as well as development partners and the private sector to cooperate with the National Committee for One Village, One Product Movement to help develop more Cambodian products in both national and international markets.
