PM Hun Manet advocates for increased domestically produced goods

Prime Minister Hun Manet urged diversifying goods and boosting domestic production for domestic consumption and export.

He made this statement on Sunday (Apr. 28) during his meeting with more than 5,000 representatives of the informal economy at OCIC, Phnom Penh.

The premier underscored, “Our goal is not merely to enable production within Cambodia but to ensure that it is carried out by Cambodian people. This is a significant undertaking because while production in Cambodia may be facilitated by foreign companies, it must ultimately be driven by Cambodian people.”

He further added that during his recent visit to Laos, he was proud to observe that approximately 30 Cambodian enterprises there were spearheading production activities led by Cambodian people, a testament to our national pride.

At the same time, the Prime Minister acknowledged the improved skills of Cambodia’s human resources.

Dr. Hun Manet underscored that the policy established by the seventh-mandate Royal Government and preceding mandates aims to enhance productivity, foster ownership, and empower Cambodian people to manufacture products for local consumption. Cambodia aims to achieve even more significant strides in modern production and accomplishments.
