The event was co-organised by Bình Định Provincial People's Committee and the Bình Định Timber and Forest Products Association.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lê Minh Thiện, Chairman of Bình Định Timber and Forest Products Association cum head of the Q-Fair 2024 Organising Committee, said that the fair held for the first time in Quy Nhơn City is a new and unique exhibition fair event gathering nearly 1,000 booths of more than 100 wood industry enterprises related to exterior products and those serving modern lifestyle.

The fair is not only a place to display products and technology, but also a place for firms and associations to build bridges together, create important links between businesses, manufacturers and international partners.

Q-FAIR 2024 is within the framework of a series of events of the world wood industry held from February 29 to March 12 in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and ending in Bình Định. This is an opportunity for customers to shop and find partners around the world.

Bình Định Province had an area of about 415,700 hectares of forest land with forest coverage of more than 57 per cent, said Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Phạm Anh Tuấn.

The potential for developing the province's wood and forest product processing industry was huge, he said.

Việt Nam's wood industry exports an average of over US$10 billion each year, making the country the fifth largest exporter of wood and wooden products in the world, second in Asia and leading in Southeast Asia.

Of which, Bình Định is one of the four largest wood processing and export centres in the country.

The wood industry accounted for more than 60 per cent of the province's export value last year, and created jobs for more than 30,000 workers.
