Vietnam's hidden gem: Unspoiled island paradise awaits
Hon Nua Island, located off the coasts of Phu Yen Province and Khanh Hoa Province in south-central Vietnam, has emerged as an alluring tourist site thanks to its magnificence and glamor.

The island’s northern part belongs to Phu Yen, while its southern part is administered by the other province.
Riding across Ca Pass along National Highway 1 in the south-central region, tourists can easily spot Hon Nua Island, nearly one nautical mile from the shore.
The small island is around 35 kilometers south of the heart of Tuy Hoa City in Phu Yen Province.
The island, which boasts crystal-clear emerald-green water, becomes more attractive on sunny days.
This is an island of mystery thanks to multiple huge rocks bestrewn with slashes.

Standing on the island is a red lighthouse, which was built in 2002.
The lighthouse plays a role in helping boats and ships in the waters off Phu Yen and Khanh Hoa navigate, according to a representative of South-Central Maritime Safety Company.
No professional tourism services have been offered on the island, but its wildness and dreamy beauty are luring crowds of tourists who rent ships or speedboats to reach it for photoshoots.
“Soaking my face in the crystal-clear water [off the island] to admire coral reefs is a wonderful experience,” Le Thi Bich Tuyen, a 38-year-old resident of Dong Nai Province in southern Vietnam, expressed her excitement after her trip to Hon Nua.
Tran Minh Hieu, 29, from Nha Trang City, Khanh Hoa, hoped for increased tourism development programs on the island to attract more visitors.
In early 2024, the Phu Yen Province People’s Committee held a conference to promote tourism and call for investments in 33 projects in the South Phu Yen Economic Zone and 37 other projects.
The provincial administration also called on investors to transform Hon Nua Island into a tourist attraction for leisure travel.
Nguyen Van Hong, vice-chairman of the Dong Hoa Town People’s Committee in Phu Yen Province, is optimistic about the immense tourism potential of Hon Nua Island.
