Supermarkets in Hanoi offer post-Tet promotions to boost demand

More than 1,300 retail outlets in Hanoi were open from the first to the sixth day of the Lunar New Year, instead of remaining closed as is usually the case.

To boost consumer demand in the first days after the Tet holiday, many supermarkets in Hanoi have launched a series of promotions and discount initiatives, according to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.

The main high-demand items are food, especially vegetables, beef and seafood.

Thailand's Central Retail, which operates the GO!/Big C supermarket chain, has launched a promotional program called "Always Low Prices" with discounts of over 30%. Nguyen Thi Bich Van, Central Retail's director of communications, said that as a member retailer of the market stabilization program, the company had worked closely with suppliers and prepared enough essential goods after the Tet holiday.

In addition to the good pricing policy, its supermarkets have also launched attractive promotional programs to enhance the shopping experience at GO! and Big C supermarkets. Until 21 February, customers at GO! and Big C supermarkets can shop for basic consumer goods at stable prices, with discounts of up to 33% on fresh local and imported meat and fish and up to 28% on fruits and vegetables.

Similarly, Vietnam's Co.op Mart is running a promotion until the end of February with over 10,000 lucky envelopes, one million reward points and over 1,000 discounted items.

Thailand-backed MM Mega Market system offers nearly 200,000 vouchers to regular customers to boost demand.

Vietnam's WinMart supermarket, which reopened on the 4th day of the Lunar New Year, is running a spring promotion with more than 300 heavily discounted products, as well as buy-one-get-one-free and buy-two-get-one-free offers and attractive lucky money gifts for customers during the New Year.

South Korea's Lotte Mart chain of 16 supermarkets also resumed normal operations, offering discounts of up to 50% on many fresh foods, dry goods, household items and children's toys.

During the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, more than 1,300 retail outlets in Hanoi opened from the first to the sixth day instead of remaining closed as usual, according to the Hanoi Department of Industry and Trade.
