Hanoi, Japanese firms join hands for aerospace component production

The move is a concrete manifestation of the robust cooperation between the two nations.

The Hanoi Supporting Industry Business Association (HANSIBA), in cooperation with local companies and their Japanese peers from the Kobe Aero Network (KAN) in Kobe City on February 20, signed an agreement to set up the Vietnam-Japan Techno-Park,  which will be located within the Hanoi Southern Supporting Industrial Park (HANSSIP).

Nguyen Hoang, Chairman of HANSIBA and Chairman of the Board of Directors of N&G GROUP stated that Vietnam's industrialization strategy within the framework of cooperation with Japan has been implemented by the governments of both countries for many years.

In December 2023, in Tokyo, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his Japanese counterpart Kishida Fumio reaffirmed and agreed to support Vietnam's successful industrialization and modernization, emphasizing that Vietnam's labor force is indispensable for Japan's economic and social development.

The cooperation between KAN and HANSIBA in the research, application, and production of general and aerospace components is a concrete manifestation of the cooperation between the two governments.

"We have a strong belief that Japanese-Vietnamese enterprises have sufficient potential, capacity, experience, manpower, and infrastructure to cooperate in production and participate in the Japanese and global supply chains," emphasized Hoang.

He also assessed that KAN and Japanese enterprises investing in production at HANSSIP will have access to complete supply infrastructure with internationally standardized industrial ecosystems, including Japanese and international standard factory zones,  residential areas, healthcare centers, educational facilities for workers and experts including labor training academies directly linked to dozens of technical universities and colleges in Hanoi, among others.

“Particularly, preferential policies for HANSSIP [tax incentives, 70-year land tax exemption] and in the future, with the new Capital Law in place, it will create an ideal condition for Hanoi to support Vietnamese and Japanese enterprises,” said Hoang.

On the other hand, Onaga Masaru, Chairman of ONAGA Corporation, revealed that Japanese companies specializing in aircraft components, robots, high-speed trains, and precision mechanics have been established for many years, most of which have extensive experience in mechanical production and numerous customer partners worldwide.

He noted that Japan has an aging population, while Vietnam has a young workforce, so there are many opportunities and potentials for cooperation in global component manufacturing chains.

"The collaboration between KAN enterprises and HANSIBA in technology, production processes, and especially global manufacturing certifications will be a decisive advantage for enterprises to join Japan's global production chains. It will also increase the efficiency and value of production and business for Japanese enterprises in the joint production of aerospace products," he said.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen stated that this is a meaningful activity to promote cooperation between Vietnamese and Japanese partners in developing HANSSIP.

Quyen added that Hanoi also focuses on attracting foreign investment, especially from Japanese partners. To promote the development of the South Hanoi Industrial Park, the city is working with ministries, sectors, and the central government to advise and report to the Prime Minister to accelerate the formation and completion of HANSSIP, Quyen noted.

He requested the Industrial Park - Export Processing Zone Management Board of the city to resolve any issue raised by businesses within 24 hours.

"Witnessing the signing of cooperation agreements is very exciting as it opens up development opportunities for both sides. Hanoi commits to assisting investors in general, especially Japanese investors, in resolving administrative procedures and overcoming difficulties in implementation," affirmed Quyen.
