The meeting was part of the top Vietnamese official’s Japan visit, which was scheduled to wrap up on Thursday.

The top Vietnamese leader also hinted at beefing up cultural and high-ranking delegation exchanges.

State President Thuong called on enterprises in the Kyushu region to invest in the processing, production, smart agriculture, and waste treatment fields in Vietnam.

The Japanese prefectures in these regions, along with Vietnamese localities, should enhance workforce training and worker exchange, he said.

Officials from the Kyushu region affirmed that the region expected to deepen partnership with Vietnamese localities and receive more highly-skilled workers from the Southeast Asian nation.

Thuong underscored that the elevation of the Japan-Vietnam relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia and the world will open a new chapter in the two nations’ ties.

The upgrade of their relations coincides with the two sides celebrating the 50th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

Vietnam - Japan ties have made great strides in various fields over the past many years, with 100 pairs of localities forming twinning relationships, according to Thuong.

Thuong also expressed his pleasure in visiting the Kyushu region, which established a relation with Vietnam in the 16th century.

The top Vietnamese official appreciated the Kyushu region’s efforts in boosting cooperation with Vietnam.

Furthermore, Thuong proposed the Japanese side continue to create favorable conditions for Vietnamese citizens to work, live, and study in Japan, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
