The Can Tho City official expected the two sides to focus on student and teacher exchanges, and boost their partnership in technology-based agriculture.

Can Tho plays a role as a key city in the southwestern region, so it has several special policies and incentives for infrastructure development as well as foreign investment attraction, said Hieu.

He also called on South Korean firms to invest in some of the city’s key projects aimed at advancing farm produce processing and producing, alongside logistics fields.

The city is implementing two major official development assistance projects, including a Vietnam - South Korea industrial technology incubator garden, with a total investment of US$21.1 million, and a Vietnam farming mechanization support project, at a total cost of 2.4 billion Korean won ($1.8 million).

Consul General Shin appreciated the partnership between Vietnam and South Korea, while highly valuing Can Tho City’s strong growth.

He pledged to expand bilateral ties and bring throngs of South Korean investors to Vietnam in general and Can Tho in particular.

Woori Bank under South Korea’s Woori Financial Group opened a branch in Can Tho on the same day.

The launch of the Woori Bank branch in Can Tho demonstrated the city’s importance, and is expected to contribute to cementing the Vietnam-South Korea ties, said the diplomat.
