Tourism revenue is estimated at more than VND60 trillion (US$2.54 billion), up 5.3 times on year.

The Hanoi Tourism Department said arrivals to the city this year rocketed 4.7 times from 2021 and about 64.7% from 2019.

The figure included 1.5 million foreign arrivals and 17.2 million domestic tourists. Tourism revenue was estimated at more than VND60 trillion (US$1.9 billion), up 5.3 times on year.

According to international prestigious travel websites and magazines, Hanoi continues to be among the top attractions in the world. The world's largest travel website Trip Advisor ranked Hanoi 22nd in the list of 25 food destinations in the world in 2022.

Hanoi also won the title of "Asia's Leading Urban Tourism Destination 2022" for the first time, an essential category in the annual World Travel Awards (WTA).

According to the city's plan, the tourism industry focuses on investing in facilities and improving the quality of tourism products and services and human resources to make the industry a cutting-edge economic sector by 2025.

Under the city's tourism development plan by 2030, Hanoi will prioritize developing homestays and accommodation establishments of three stars and over rather than those with fewer than ten rooms.

Between now and 2030, the city is expected to welcome some 48-49 million tourists, including 13-14 million international arrivals, generating revenue of VND270-300 trillion (US$11.6-$12.9 billion).
