This agreement is the first of its kind in the offshore wind industry in Vietnam. It will bring together world-leading offshore wind researchers and technology providers with top Vietnamese universities, research institutions and industrial players to deliver custom made solutions for Vietnam’s offshore wind industry.

The goal of this initiative is to launch an Offshore Wind R&D and training center under NIC. This will act as a focal point for human resource development, technology transfer, supply chain development and research to make offshore wind a success in Vietnam.

Welcoming today’s announcement of the MoU, Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment, said: "I believe, appreciate and have hope in the joint venture of T&T Group and Ørsted."

For his part, Sebastian Hald Buhl, Country Manager of Ørsted Vietnam, said: “Ørsted is proud to join forces with the National Innovation Center to nurture the future talent and technology which will drive Vietnam’s transition to green energy in the decades ahead. Alongside our partner T&T Group, we are ready to provide resources and knowledge-sharing to enhance local technological capabilities, close the skills gap and support talent to deliver high quality and competitively priced offshore wind for Vietnam”.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Thanh Binh, Deputy General Director of T&T Group, said: “This is an important event for T&T Group and Ørsted’s joint venture. It demonstrates the determination and responsibility of businesses to support the Government’s aim of developing the offshore wind industry towards economic development in harmony with green and sustainable growth and to help realise the goal of zero net emissions in Vietnam by 2050.”
