Chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Pham Tan Cong revealed the information at a press conference held in Hanoi today [July 12].

ABAC III, themed “Embrace, Engage, Enable”, is jointly organized by the VCCI and ABAC Vietnam, and would draw the participation of over 200 delegates, including senior officials from APEC member countries and executives of multinationals, such as NEC, Marubeni, UPS or Acer.

“The main objectives of the event are to help APEC members grasp new opportunities in the post-pandemic period; facilitate growth via cooperation; and engage in digitalization, inclusive and sustainable development,” he added.

According to Cong, the fact that Vietnam is hosting ABAC III in the midst of the world economic recovery process has been highly appreciated by the international community.

“This shows Vietnam has successfully contained the pandemic and also evidences the country’s economic stability with bright and sustainable prospects,” Cong noted, expecting more investment capital would come to Vietnam after the event.

In addition, Cong stressed that ABAC III in Vietnam would help facilitate the country’s economic recovery and sustainable development.

“Vietnam would continue to be a bright spot in the global investment environment during the new normal with open, safe, and attractive policies,” Cong continued.

Nguyen Thi Thu Huong, CEO of Kinh Bac City Development Holding Corporation, one of the three members of ABAC Vietnam, expected ABAC and, in a broader sense APEC, would continue to be a dominant economic forum in the Asia-Pacific region, especially in promoting multilateralism for global economic recovery.

“ABAC’s initiatives have brought huge benefits for the business community, especially in providing vaccines for businesses, enhancing the resilience of the movements of goods, facilitating e-commerce, lifting trade barriers, and offering new initiatives in green recovery,” said Huong.

The topics to be discussed at ABAC III are of concern to the Asia-Pacific business community and relate to the goal of economic recovery in the post-pandemic period.

ABAC would also work on recommendations that would be sent to APEC leaders, as well as prepare the working agenda for the APEC High-level week, scheduled to take place in Thailand in November.
