Several southern suppliers receiving support from Samsung
The second phase of the Smart Factory Development Cooperation will forge ahead in the southern region from August, benefitting 12 businesses.
On July 20, Samsung Vietnam, in tandem with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and relevant localities, held the closing ceremony of the project’s first phase with participating businesses to summarise and evaluate its performance.
In the first phase – which kick-started on May 24-25 at involved localities – 14 northern businesses had received consultation and support for smart factory development, including seven units in Bac Ninh, two units in Vinh Phuc, three in Hanoi, one in Hung Yen, and one in Ha Nam province.
Engaging suppliers have posted inspiring results after joining the production enhancement stage.
During the stage, Vietnamese and Samsung’s consultants directly participated in surveying, evaluating, and giving advice to businesses in the field.
Since 2015, the MoIT and Samsung have teamed up to expedite an advancement consulting programme to enhance competitiveness for 379 Vietnamese enterprises.
Among the 14 participating enterprises, three companies – Manutronics Vietnam JSC, Chien Thang Industry Co., Ltd., and An Lap Plastic Co., Ltd. – recorded remarkable improvements in system optimisation through a raft of activities, such as creating an environment that collects and shares production lead time, and standardising the process of managing attachment parts, among others.
Five enterprises – Hanoi Plastic JSC, An Phu Viet Plastic Co Ltd, Haast Vietnam Co Ltd, Hanpo Vina JSC, and Tran Thanh Co., Ltd. – have built and effectively deployed real-time data collection through the process.
The project also supported consulting for six other enterprises, helping them build a safe production environment, sort and arrange equipment and tools; reduce operation time; optimise placement at the factory; and reorder the warehouse in a more intuitive way.
After the project, the consulted enterprises will continue to develop the smart factory system with online consultation of South Korean experts to improve their competitiveness and increase their ability to participate in the global supply chain, contributing to promoting the development of the country’s supporting industry.

The smart factories development in localities is an activity within the framework of the smart factory cooperation project, signed by Samsung in collaboration with the MoIT in February with the goal of supporting the development of smart factories in 50 enterprises and training 100 Vietnamese experts in the next two years.
Since 2015, the MoIT and Samsung have teamed up to expedite an advancement consulting programme to enhance competitiveness for 379 Vietnamese enterprises.
From 2018 to 2021, the MoIT and Samsung trained 406 experts in supporting industries in Vietnam.
