VinaCapital's open-ended funds outperformed the Vn-index in Q1

Those funds include the Vietnam Equity Special Access Fund (VESAF), VinaWealth Equity Opportunity Fund (VEOF), VinaCapital Insights Balanced Fund (VIBF), and VinaWealth Enhanced Fixed Income Fund (VFF).

VEOF and VESAF, the top performing equity funds in Vietnam in 2021, continued to lead the market in Q1 22 with VEOF returning 8,6 percent being the top performing fund and VESAF following right after with a 8,1 percent return. These two equity funds showed strong returns despite the volatility of the broader stock market, with the VN-Index declining 0.4 percent in Q1. VinaCapital’s bond fund, VFF, retained its top position in its class with a YTD return of 2.1 percent, while the balanced fund, VIBF, ranked 1st in its category with a return of 5.0 percent.

In the context of unpredictable market fluctuations, VinaCapital equity funds continued to perform well for their investors because VinaCapital builds its portfolios focusing on stocks with high profit potential based on thorough research and analysis. Each portfolio incorporates a strict risk management framework to optimize risk-adjusted returns. The fixed income portfolios are comprised of high credit quality assets that are backed by sustainable cashflows and utilize our proprietary credit rating system, the industry’s first. In addition, our portfolio construction process ensures diversification of investments and applies a strict risk control process to ensure that funds always comply with the legal framework set by the State Securities Commission.

The total assets under management of the four funds reached more than VND3,392 billion, by 18.9 percent YTD increase. VESAF accounts for VND1,157 billion, VEOF for VND822 billion, VIBF for VND779 billion, and VFF for VND634 billion, invested by nearly 29,650 clients as of 31 March 2022.

The Vietnam Equity Special Access Fund (VESAF) mainly invests in the listed stocks of companies with full foreign ownership limits, and with medium and small market capitalizations. These companies operate in sectors with high growth potential and have competitive advantages thanks to distinct market segmenting and business strategies. As of 31 March 2022, the majority of the fund’s total assets were invested in financials (21.8 percent), industrials (15.5 percent), materials (13.68 percent), consumer staples (10.3 percent), technology (8.8 percent), and real estate (7.7 percent) with MBB, FPT, MWG, QNS, and KDH the top holdings. VESAF's average annualized return since its inception on 18 April 2017 through 31 March 2022 is 23.4 percent.

The VinaWealth Equity Opportunity Fund (VEOF) mainly invests in the listed stocks of companies with large and medium market capitalizations, distinct competitive advantages, and strong growth potential. It aims to deliver higher returns than those from the VN-Index. As of 31 March 2022, 89.8 percent of the fund’s total assets were invested in financials (26.0 percent), real estate (15.1 percent), materials (12.5 percent), consumer discretionary (9.8 percent), industrials (8.2 percent), technology (7.4 percent), consumer staples (5.5 percent), health care (3.0 percent), and utilities (2.4 percent), with top holdings including blue chip stocks such as FPT, MWG, MBB, TCB and VCB. VEOF's average annualized return since its inception on 01 July 2014 through 31 March 2022 is 14.5 percent.

The VinaCapital Insights Balanced Fund (VIBF) is a balanced open-ended fund which invests in quality bonds and listed stocks of companies with strong fundamentals and sustainable profitability. This combination gives investors the opportunity to participate in the equity returns and to own fixed income securities, which helps to mitigate overall portfolio volatility. The fund’s asset allocation is set strategically at 50 percent equities and 50 percent fixed income. VIBF mainly invested in financials, consumers staples, real estate, materials, and consumer discretionary, with top equity holdings including FPT, MWG, MBB and TCB. VIBF's average annualized return since its inception on 02 July 2019 through 31 March 2022 is 18.6 percent.

The Vinawealth Enhanced Fixed Income Fund (VFF) is an open-ended bond fund which invests in fixed income instruments, including bonds of companies with strong financials and good management teams, certificates of deposits, and bank deposits. As of 31 March 2022, over 93.9 percent of the fund’s total assets were invested in fixed income instruments issued by companies in the financials, consumer, and real estate sectors. Currently, VFF's portfolio includes bonds and certificates of deposit issued by KBC, SBT, MSN, MML, HDG and GEG. VFF's average annualized return since its inception on 08 April 2013 through 31 March 2022 is 7.7 percent.
