The Kingdom set to kick off Asia Property Awards series
Singaporean property portal PropertyGuru has selected Cambodia as the first jurisdiction to host a local edition of its Property Awards this year, on August 26, with the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final scheduled for December 9 in Bangkok, Thailand.
The Kingdom’s local edition, the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards, was first held in 2015, and this year will be the seventh iteration.
At a February 23 press conference held on the occasion of registration opening for the local awards, independent judging panel chairman Sorn Seap posited that Cambodia’s high Covid-19 vaccination rates, better management of the pandemic, and progress on its plans for full-scale socio-economic resumption led to PropertyGuru’s decision to allow the Kingdom to hold its event ahead of other jurisdictions.
He said the PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards not only help build a reputation for the domestic construction and real estate sector, but also improves the overall quality of construction and inspires more attractive building designs and stronger standards.
The jurisdictions hosting local awards ceremonies organised by PropertyGuru this year include Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Japan, Australia, China, Sri Lanka and India.
PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards head of brand and marketing services Richard Allan Aquino said that Cambodia has a “strong economy”, with a real estate sector that is “growing remarkably”.
Winners in Cambodia will be eligible to compete with their counterparts from other Asian jurisdictions, he said.
Urbanland sales director Kem Sithen said: “We’re honoured to have won seven awards for our first landed home development, Chankiri Palm Creek, including Best Developer from the [16th] PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards.”
Urbanland represented Cambodia in four categories at the 16th PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards Grand Final last year.
“Our vision is to transform the way people live in Cambodia: one place, one community at a time and we are committed and motivated to continue raising the bar when it comes to exceptional quality, durability and craftsmanship in our developments.”
Applications for the 2022 PropertyGuru Cambodia Property Awards will be accepted till July 8.
Although Seap said construction companies and real estate developers have shown a lot of interest in the awards, the judging panel chairman did not have an estimate for how many would enter the competition this year. He did, however, say that 40 participated in 2021.
Last year, the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards online gala series, which included the local awards in Cambodia in November, was viewed more than 437,000 times in just two months, reaching viewers and property investors worldwide.
Sri Lanka and the Philippines will be the second and third jurisdictions to host local awards ceremonies this year, on September 9 and October 7, respectively, according to the PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards website.
