Major goals set for national industry promotion program

The 2021-2025 national industry promotion program, approved by the prime minister at the end of 2020, has become increasingly efficient, helping mobilize and effectively use all resources, creating a new driving force for industrial and handicraft growth, and contributing to new rural area development and economic restructuring.

Connections

Ngo Quang Trung, Director of the Ministry of Industry and Trade’s Agency for Regional Industry and Trade (ARIT), says the industry promotion sector has gradually become a vital resource for rural industrial establishments. With a wide variety of support activities, the sector has created extensive connections for rural industrial establishments and strong industries of specific regions and localities.

With assistance for building technical demonstration models, technology transfer and advanced machinery application, industry promotion programs have contributed to rural industrial development.

Activities such as honoring outstanding rural industrial products, organizing trade fairs and exhibitions, and assisting rural industrial establishments to develop branding, register trademarks and open showrooms to introduce and promote products all help improve product quality and design and form supply chains.

“Industry promotion activities vary, including many new activities, all compliant with the needs of rural industrial establishments. The scale, quality, implementation and management of industry promotion projects have been gradually improved,” Trung said.

Promoting sustainable development

The 2021-2025 national industry promotion program will build 340 technical demonstration and technology transfer models, apply 1,600 and 300 advanced equipment and technology lines to industrial and handicraft production, help 350 rural industrial establishments develop branding and register trademarks, participate in preparation of detailed plans for 50 industrial zones for small and medium-sized enterprises, connect industries, form value chains, and offer vocational training for 10,000 workers according to the needs of rural industrial establishments.

The program will give priority to building and developing models of agro-forestry-fishery processing, models of high-tech application in industrial production, circular production models, production development models for sustainable poverty reduction, and other models in accordance with the needs and development orientation of industries and localities. The program will support technology transfer, advanced machinery and equipment application and automation in industrial and handicraft production.

The program will also help rural industrial establishments and industrial zones join connectivity models and value chains, build detailed plans, attract investment, and repair and upgrade environmental pollution treatment systems, as well as provide advisory information about loan interest rates.

The 2021-2025 national industry promotion program will continue to help rural industrial establishments overcome difficulties, recover rapidly and reach sustainable development.
