Stocks turn lower after early gains

Vietnamese stocks gave up initial gains on Monday morning as investors booked profits in large-cap stocks.

 

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the VN-Index lost 0.08 per cent to close at 1.319,37 points. The market breadth was positive as 287 stocks declined, while 133 stocks gained.

The liquidity was high with over 553.4 million shares traded on the southern market, worth nearly VNĐ19 trillion (US$286 million).

The VN30-Index inched down 0.38 per cent in the morning session to 1,464.30 points. Of the VN30 basket, 17 stocks decreased while only 10 stocks rose and three stayed flat.

Vincom Retail (VRE), Vingroup (VIC), Vietjet (VJC), Masan Group (MSN), Mobile World Group (MWG), Phát Đạt Real Estate (PDR), Bảo Việt Holdings (BVH), the Refrigeration Electrical Engineering Corporation (REE) and Thành Thành Công Biên Hòa JSC (SBT) were among the blue-chips falling deeply by over 2 per cent.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange (HNX), the HNX-Index rose 0.78 per cent to 312.87 points.
