​$90-mln Quang Tri Province industrial zone gets green light

The government has given approval for building a VND2.07-trillion (US$90 million) industrial zone in the central province of Quang Tri.

The 481-hectare Quang Tri Industrial Zone will be built in Hai Lang District by the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park Joint Venture Co., Ltd., Amata City Bien Hoa JSC, a subsidiary of Thai industrial real estate developer Amata Corporation, and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation.

A portion of a forest will be cut down for the park, and the developers are required to afforest an equivalent area or pay for it.

The govern has made the province administration responsible for paying compensation to people from whom lands are acquired for the project.

It is the third industrial zone in the province to receive approval from the government in March after the VND925-billion Tay Bac Ho Xa Industrial Zone and VND4.5- trillion Trieu Phu Industrial Zone.
