Shares gain on banking stocks

Shares rose on Monday morning thanks to the gain of banking stocks.

 

On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), the market benchmark VN-Index increased 0.55 per cent to end the morning session at 1,180.01 points.

More than 370 million shares were traded on the southern exchange, worth VNĐ9 trillion.

The market breadth was positive with 261 stocks climbing, while 166 stocks declined.

The main driving force for the gain was an increase in the large-cap tracker VN30-Index.

Accordingly, the VN30-Index rose 0.52 per cent to 1,186.74 points. Seven-teen of 30 biggest stocks increased in the morning trading session, while eight stocks decreased.

The stock witnessing the biggest gain this morning was Vietcombank (VCB), VPBank (VPB), Techcombank (TCB), Military Bank (MBB) and HDBank (HDB).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index also gained 0.28 per cent to 231.82 points.
