With great potential for tourism development, Ho Tram is not only a new destination for tourists in the south but also a promising land for professional investors.
There is a bright outlook for Ho Tram hospitality segment

Only 120km away from Ho Chi Minh City, within a 90-minute drive, Ho Tram is the ideal getaway for short vacations. Ho Tram is a coastal strip in Xuyen Moc district of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. However, the place used to be undeveloped with a lack of traffic infrastructure and accommodation facilities. However, this situation has changed after heavy investments in traffic infrastructure, with many large-scale hospitality projects springing up with attractive sales policies in the area.
The revenue from tourism activities in Ho Tram reached more than VND1.84 trillion ($80 million) in 2019, up 23 per cent compared to 2018. During the Lunar New Year, the number of visitors to Ho Tram reached 1.3 million, an increase of 14.78 per cent. The area generated a total revenue of VND1.45 trillion ($63 million), up 14.9 per cent over the same period. Despite disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic in July, the province welcomed 1.738 million visitors, an increase of more than 15 per cent on-year. Total tourism revenue reached VND1.68 trillion ($73 million), up 6.4 per cent over the same period last year.
Developing transport infrastructure
The Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway plays an important role in improving the connectivity of Ho Tram. Put into operation in 2015, the expressway has a length of 55 kilometres and four lanes. The route is being studied to expand to 8-10 lanes from the An Phu intersection (Ho Chi Minh City) to Long Thanh town (Dong Nai province). At the same time, when Long Thanh International Airport is completed, it will welcome a large number of tourists, promoting tourism in neighbouring areas such as Ho Tram.

There are also many other infrastructure projects such as the Ben Luc-Long Thanh Expressway, which has a length of 58km with four lanes and two emergency stop lanes. Once completed, it will seamlessly connect the western and southeastern regions. The Bien Hoa-Vung Tau Expressway is slated to be inaugurated in early 2023 and completed in 2025, which will provide convenient access to visitors from Ho Chi Minh City and the Eastern region to Ho Tram.
Another important transport route is the coastal route of Vung Tau-Xuyen Moc, passing through a series of resorts. Ba Ria - Vung Tau province is researching to expand the route from 12 metres to 42 metres. This project is expected to contribute to the efficiency of exploiting major infrastructure projects and creating opportunities for a series of resorts to be developed in the area.
Pristine nature, beautiful coastline
Ho Tram is blessed by nature with a beautiful coastline of 30 km and fine white sand. Ho Tram has a warm sunny climate all year round, with an average temperature around 25-30 degrees Celsius. It can welcome visitors all the time throughout the year. Ho Tram also has a variety of beach activities suitable for many types of tourists such as surfing, swimming, picnicking, or simply jogging.

In Ho Tram, visitors can also have the opportunity to bathe in hot springs with 70 open-water spraying points and temperatures at 64-84 degrees Celsius. Geological studies show that hot springs in Ho Tram contain many chemical components that can treat a number of diseases such as ascites, chronic poisoning, cardiovascular as well as restore health and beauty.
Besides, Binh Chau fishing port is the anchoring and trading place for hundreds of small and large fishing vessels. This place has become a favourite destination for many tourists, enchanting visitors with its different but equally beautiful faces at dawn and sunset.
The resiliency of Ho Tram tourism
According to a report by Savills Hotels, Ho Tram ranks first in the proportion of hotels and resorts resuming after the COVID-19 pandemic. Hotels and resorts in the region have achieved the rental capacity and occupancy rate of over 80 per cent. In particular, high-end properties have been consistently reaching 100 per cent occupancy rate during weekends.
Xuyen Moc has not only had ample advantages but also made quick recovery post-COVID-19 pandemic. Ba Ria-Vung Tau prioritises developing international-scale marine tourism, associated with accommodation facilities and high-quality supplementing services in Xuyen Moc, especially in Ho Linh, Ho Coc, and Ho Tram areas. According to the land use plan for 2020-2030, 5,000ha of the land fund is earmarked for a tourism-entertainment resort complex in Ho Tram.
Mixed-use hospitality models to accommodate tourist waves
