The Asian Banker is the most prestigious magazine in the banking and finance field in the Asia-Pacific region, with readership extending to hundreds of thousands of businessmen in the region and around the world.

VietinBank is the only Vietnamese bank being honoured in this category of The Asian Banker, along with other reputable banks and institutions in the Asia-Pacific.

The recognition of The Asian Banker reflects VietinBank’s efforts to develop and constantly upgrade VietinBank iPay Mobile to meet versatile demand and satisfy customers. At the same time, it is also part of VietinBank’s digital transformation strategy to embrace the Fourth Industrial Revolution initiated by the government.

Launched in 2013, VietinBank iPay Mobile is a digital bank integrating many features and utilities on the mobile platform allowing customers to use it anytime, anywhere. On December 12, 2019, VietinBank continued to present the VietinBank iPay Mobile application version 5.0 – a spectacular transformation in the user interface with more than 130 outstanding features and utilities.

With the iPay Mobile app, users can easily make transactions anytime, anywhere. iPay Mobile's features fully meet users’ transaction needs from account management, money transfer, savings deposit and QR payment. Users can also book train tickets, air tickets, movie tickets, hotel rooms, and shop online as well as connect their e-wallets to a diverse ecosystem of bill payment services such as electricity, water, mobile phone, cable TV, and internet.

In addition, users can also buy insurance, bonds, or stocks easily on iPay Mobile. In particular, the app also supports scheduling transactions and calendar reminders to help users be more proactive in money transfers, payments, or savings.

More notably, the app is integrated with comprehensive card service management features. The app not only boasts the functions of card activation, card unlock/lock, online payment service registration, but also allows customers to pay bills by credit card right on the app, or withdraw money from ATMs through the app without using physical card. This is one of the state-of-the-art solutions to replace the traditional methods of swiping or touching, which is especially useful during the COVID-19 pandemic.

On the basis of the digital banking platform, VietinBank is continuing to provide open application programming interface solutions (Open APIs) in VietinBank iConnect. Thus, VietinBank can provide external APIs to support Fintech companies and mobile apps in the market to connect and provide VietinBank’s financial and banking services on their own platforms, thereby helping customers to make transactions quickly and conveniently. VietinBank has developed an iConnect platform of more than 100 APIs connecting to 64 service providers on a wide range of services from inquiries, transaction reporting, account opening/closing to payments, tax payment, and L/C opening, etc. Going forward, VietinBank will continue adding more features and utilities, providing more APIs to enable more intensive and extensive connections to popular services and categories. Working with other partners, VietinBank desires to build a customer-centric ecosystem where customers can enjoy all the benefits from the features and utilities that the ecosystem has to offer.

Surpassing beyond the framework of a banking app, VietinBank's strategic solution is to digitise what already exists on the iPay Mobile app as well as develop a new business model to attract a large number of customers, creating unique and interesting experiences for customers across the country.

With the Best Mobile Banking Technology Implementation award, VietinBank iPay Mobile continues to consolidate its position as Vietnam’s leading digital bank as well as reaching the regional class. This is also the driving force for VietinBank to continue researching and developing new services for VietinBank iPay to bring a diverse ecosystem closer to customers, solving all their financial needs.
