Heavy-weighed stocks bolster market

Shares expanded growth on Wednesday morning thanks to the flourish of heavy-weighed stocks.

 

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange increased 0.45 per cent to close at 939.59 points.

It had gained increased by 0.19 per cent to close at 935.41 points.

Nearly 164 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND3.4 trillion (US$146 million).

Market breadth was positive with 137 decliners and 248 gainers.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, increased 0.44 per cent to close Monday at 906.11 points.

In the VN-30 basket, 18 stocks gained ground, nine decreased and three remained flat.

Gainers in the group included Masan Group (MSN), Vinamilk (VNM), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Vincom Retail (VRE), Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ), Vinhomes (VHM), Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BID), Vietinbank (CTG) and Military Bank (MBB).

The minor HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange increased 0.67 per cent to end Wednesday morning at 139.51 points.

It had risen by 1.52 per cent to end Tuesday at 138.58 points.

More than 25.8 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VND381 billion.
