Generali Vietnam launches plan to support thousands of flood-impacted families

On November 25th, 2020, Generali Vietnam Life Insurance LLC (Generali Vietnam) implemented the “Sát cánh bên miền Trung” (Standing Side By Side With Central Vietnam) emergency relief program with the total fund of VND6.5 billion.

This is a comprehensive disaster relief plan that offers immediate, practical and sustainable supports to thousands of disadvantaged families seriously impacted by the recent flooding in 35 districts of 7 Central Vietnam provinces including Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. Funding for “Sát Cánh Bên Miền Trung” comes from the “Gen Yêu Thương” charity fund contributed by Generali Vietnam’s staff, agents and the Company.

“Standing Side By Side With Central Vietnam” relief program includes the following main activities:

Generali Vietnam will partner with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to directly deliver donations in cash and in-kind to over 1,000 disadvantaged families in 7 central provinces, including Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Da Nang, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai. Generali Vietnam’s donations include cash, food and non-food necessities, warm clothes, school furniture, school supplies, water filters, etc.

Generali Vietnam will partner with Hue Central Hospital to provide free health checks and medicines to approximately 7,500 people exposed to health risks caused by recent flooding in Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue, Quang Nam.

Generali Vietnam will sponsor UNICEF’s program providing support to children and women in Central Vietnam who suffer from severe stress, anxiety and mental trauma due to the loss of their parents and loved ones in the disaster.

Generali Vietnam will sponsor the construction of 10 flood-proof houses in Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien Hue and Quang Nam under the “Nhà Chống Lũ” (Flood-Proof Home) project by The Foundation for Supporting and Development of Sustainable Living Community (Sống Foundation).

In 2020, apart from the “Sát Cánh Bên Miền Trung” disaster relief program, Generali Vietnam has been successfully implementing other meaningful community intiatives such as the unique parenting education program “Sinh Con, Sinh Cha” (Born Children, Born Parents), scholarship program “Cùng Em Đến Trường” (Your Companion To School), fundraising activities supporting Covid-19 emergency, as well as other charity activities targeting the underprivileged across the country.

In recognition of the Company’s positive and sustainable contributions to the society, Generali Vietnam has been awarded the “Saigon Times CSR 2020” certification, honoring companies with outstanding community initiatives. Recently, Generali Group was confirmed in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI) and in the Dow Jones Sustainability Europe Index (DJSI Europe), a recognition of excellence for the approach taken by Generali Group to integrate sustainability within its core business, in which its community initiatives play an important part.
