Shares gain on banking stocks

Shares rose on Monday morning as banking stocks made positive performance, helping VN-Index surpass 945-point landmark.

 

The VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange increased 0.24 per cent to close morning session at 945.53 points.

More than 231 million shares were traded on the southern exchange, worth VNĐ4.5 trillion (US$193.9 million).

Market breadth was positive with 212 gainers and 169 decliners.

The large-cap tracker VN30-Index rose 0.38 per cent to 905.04 points with 12 of the 30 largest stocks by market value and trading liquidity rising.

Banking stocks and large-cap stocks added a boost to the market’s uptrend with notable gainers of Vietinbank (CTG), FPT Corporation (FPT), Military Bank (MBB), HDBank (HDB), Techcombank (TCB), Vingroup (VIC), Vinamilk (VNM) and Sacombank (SBT).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was up 1.13 per cent to close Monday morning at 141.40 points.

Nearly 29.6 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VNĐ470 billion.
