Shares mixed in morning session

Shares were mixed at closing on Friday morning, lower on the HCM City Exchange but higher on the northern bourse, experiencing strong volatility with big variation in large-caps’ prices.

 

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange edged down 0.09 per cent to close Friday morning at 888.00 points.

More than 181 million shares were traded on the southern exchange, worth VND2.9 trillion (US$125 million).

Market breadth was positive with 171 gainers and 194 decliners.

The VN30-Index, which tracks the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, declined 0.08 per cent to close Friday at 825.18 points.

Losers in the VN-30 basket were FPT Corporation (FPT), PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS), Hoa Phat Group(HPG), Masan Group (MSN), Mobile World Group (MWG), Novaland (NVL), Phu Nhuan Jewelry (PNJ), Vietnam National Petroleum Group (PLX) and PV Power (POW).

The minor HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange gained 0.23 per cent to end Friday morning at 126.11 points.

Nearly 47.6 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VND545.4 billion.
