Shares rise as large-caps gain ground

Shares gained on Friday morning thanks to the rally of some invidual large-cap stocks.

 

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) gained 0.29 per cent to end trading at 803.43 points.

Nearly 140.5 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND2.1 trillion (US$91.7 million).

Market breadth was negative with 202 shares falling and 136 gaining.

The southern market index had gained 1.30 per cent to end Thursday at 801.13 points.

The large-cap VN30-Index, tracking the performance of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation and liquidity on HoSE, rose 0.13 per cent to close Friday morning at 746.96 points.

In the VN30 basket, notable gainers were insurer Bảo Việt Holdings (BVH), Vietinbank (CTG), Masan Group (MSN) and Vingroup (VIC).

On a sector basis, 10 out of 25 sectors on the stock market increased, including real estate, agriculture, food and beverage and logistics.

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index lost 0.31 per cent to end at 107.77 points.

It had risen 1.17 per cent to end Thursday at 108.10 points.

Nearly 22.8 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VND250 billion.
