Shares advance on cash injection

Shares extended gains on Friday morning as investors injected money into a number of heavyweight stocks.

 

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange gained 0.56 per cent to end at 860.02 points.

It had gained 0.1 per cent to end Friday at 855.27 points.

More than 230.3 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth nearly VND2.4 trillion (US$103 million).

The blue-chip share tracker VN30-Index climbed 0.45 per cent to 800.68 points.

Twenty-three of the 30 largest stocks by market valuation and trading liquidity decreased while five increased.

Among gainers were Vietcombank (VCB), Vietinbank (CTG), Hoa Phat Group (HPG), Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BID), Vinhomes (VHM) and Masan Group (MSN).

On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index was up 1.14 per cent to close Friday morning at 114.02 points.

It had lost 0.75 per cent to close Thursday at 112.41 points..

More than 29 million shares were traded on the northern bourse, worth nearly VND298 billion.

The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
