Shares down as bluechips fall
Shares lost ground on Friday morning as a series of blue-chip stocks fell amid low trading liquidity.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange lost 0.12 per cent to close at 937.05 points.
The VN-Index had risen 1.01 per cent to close at 938.13 points on Thursday.
More than 95.3 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth nearly VND1.9 trillion (US$81.8 million).
The market breadth was negative with 149 gaining stocks and 181 declining stocks.
The large-cap tracker VN30-Index increased by 0.36 per cent to close at 874.51 points.
Ten of the 30 largest stocks by market value and trading liquidity in the VN30 basket advanced while fifteen declined.
Large-cap decliners included FPT Corporation (FPT), Hòa Phát Group (HPG), Vietcombank (VCB), Vingroup (VIC), Vietnam National Petroleum Group (PLX), Vincom Retail (VRE), Phu Nhuan Jewellery (PNJ) and Vinhomes (VHM).
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index dropped 0.17 per cent to end at 109.38 points.
The northern market index edged up 0.25 per cent to end at 109.57 points on Thursday.
More than 19.5 million shares were traded on the northern bourse, worth VND198 billion.
