VN stocks recover as large-caps increase
Vietnamese shares rose slightly on Thursday as some large-cap stocks returned to positive territory.
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange was up 0.37 per cent to close at 954.67 points.
The VN-Index had fallen a total of 1.55 per cent in the first three trading days of the week.
More than 110.6 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VND1.9 trillion (US$82 million).
Large-cap stocks boosted the market in the morning session as the large-cap VN30-Index gained 0.23 per cent to 865.15 points.
Fifteen of the 30 largest stocks by market value and trading liquidity in the VN30 basket increased while eight declined and seven were unchanged.
Among gainers in the large-caps’ group were dairy producer Vinamilk (VNM), Vinhomes (VHM), Vietcombank (VCB) and steel firm Hoa Phat (HPG).
The four stocks were up between 0.7 per cent and 2 per cent.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index ended at 101.83 points.
The northern market index dropped 1.06 per cent to close Wednesday at 101.80 points.
Nearly 14 million shares were traded on the northern bourse, worth VND108 billion.
