Shares go up but large-caps vary

Shares gained slightly on Monday morning, though the market saw wide divergence among stock groups.

 

The benchmark VN-Index on the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange edged up 0.02 per cent to close at 977.93 points.

More than 84.5 million shares were traded on the southern bourse, worth VNĐ1.6 trillion (US$68.7 million).

The benchmark index dropped 1.02 per cent to end last Friday at 977.78 points, totalling a weekly loss of 3.2 per cent.

Large-caps such as Vinhomes (VHM), Vincom Retail (VRE) and Vietcombank (VCB) put great pressure on the market. VHM decreased by 1.1 per cent, VRE lost by 1.6 per cent and VCB was down by 1.2 per cent.

On the opposite direction, FPT Corporation (FPT) increased by 1.6 per cent, brewery Sabeco (SAB) rose by 1.7 per cent and Saigon Securities Incorporation (SSI) climbed by 1 per cent, supporting the indices.

On the Hà Nội Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index rose 0.56 per cent to end at 103.66 points.

Nearly 11.8 million shares were traded on the northern exchange, worth VND214.4 billion.

The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
