Saigon Co.op prepares 3,500 tons of pork for Tet
The Saigon Union of Trading Cooperatives (Saigon Co.op), owner of the Co.opmart supermarket chain, has purchased over 3,500 tons of safe pork for the upcoming Tet holiday, said Nguyen Anh Duc, deputy general director of Saigon Co.op.
Duc said the 3,500 tons of pork was bought from major pork suppliers, including Vissan and Anh Hoang Thy.
“There is no need for shoppers to worry too much about a shortage of pork at the Saigon Co.op supermarkets,” Duc said, adding that the firm is preparing large amounts of beef, chicken and seafood to ensure the stabilization of prices and diversify customers’ options.
The number of goods, mainly fresh food, staples and Tet decorative items, at Saigon Co.op’s supermarkets will be ramped up by 15%-40% against last year to ensure sufficient supplies are available during the months around the Tet holiday.
Also, to ease shopping pressure and prevent a possible increase in the prices of goods, Saigon Co.op has announced its discount program at its retail chains, including Co.opmart, Co.opXtra, Co.op Food, Co.op Smiles, Cheers, HTVCo.op and Sense City, across the country.
From November 28 to December 11, all Co.opmart and Co.opXtra supermarkets nationwide are launching a promotional program for the “Black Friday” shopping event, offering discounts of up to 50% for many groups of goods, such as textiles, electronics and cosmetics.
Some 1,000 electric rice cookers, electric kettles and other electric products sold at discounted prices are available at these supermarkets.
