Shares down on large-caps

The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange dropped 0.16 per cent to close at 975.22 points.

 

The HNX-Index on the Ha Noi Stock Exchange was down 0.41 per cent to end at 100.55 points.

More than 76 million shares were traded on the two local exchanges, worth VND1.5 trillion (US$64 million).

The large-cap VN30-Index gained 0.05 per cent to end at 886.53 points with 12 of the 30 largest stocks by market capitalisation climbing while 11 declining.

Large-cap stocks varied in prices. Gainers included Techcombank (TCB), VPBank (VPB) and Vinamilk (VNM).VPB increased by 1.7 per cent to VND20,600 per share. TCB rose by 1.1 per cent to VND22,450 per share.

However, other pillars like FLC Faros Construction Joint Stock Company (ROS), Vinhomes (VHM) and Vietjet Air (VJC) dropped.

Real estate, securities, wholesale, retail, construction materials, logistics, banking were the worst-performing industries.

Meanwhile, food and beverage, insurance, information and technology, energy, agriculture, construction and seafood processing supported the stock market.

The afternoon trading session starts at 1pm.
