PM seeks stronger economic cooperation with Belarus
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said he backs proposals to boost trade and economic cooperation between Vietnam and Belarus, while meeting with Belarusian Deputy PM Igor Lyashenko in Hanoi City on September 25, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
The prime minister stated that Vietnam is committed to strengthening and preserving its relationship with Belarus, praising the close collaboration between the two countries at international organizations and forums.
To enhance the efficiency of trade relations, the Belarusian deputy PM suggested switching to establishing industrial manufacturing joint ventures to serve both sides’ needs.
Deputy PM Lyashenko remarked that Belarus and Vietnam will inaugurate a truck manufacturing joint venture factory in the northern province of Hung Yen on September 26.
The representative of Belarus believed that with efforts from both parties, the bilateral trade turnover would reach the target of US$500 million this year.
Vietnam’s growth strategies are similar to those of Belarus, such that their strategies focus on innovation and raising residents’ income, said Lyashenko.
As such, the representative of Belarus suggested setting up a tire manufacturing joint venture in Belarus and using Vietnamese rubber for the production, apart from establishing a kali fertilizer production joint venture in Vietnam.
Belarus also wished to supply the Vietnamese market with technology and equipment for processing ores.
The prime minister stated that Vietnam will create favorable conditions for the truck manufacturing joint venture in Hung Yen Province to operate effectively to reach ASEAN markets.
Besides this, PM Phuc welcomed the proposals to establish a tire manufacturing Vietnam-Belarus joint venture and step up the bilateral cooperation in ore processing.
