Politburo passes plan to attract FDI

The Politburo, at a July 5 meeting chaired by Party General Secretary and State President Nguyen PhuTrong, approved a plan to improve the quality and efficiency of foreign direct investment (FDI) toward 2030.

The Politburo issued a resolution on attracting FDI after hearing a report by the Government’s Party Committee on policy orientations and measures to ensure the effectiveness of FDI attraction.

At a Government teleconference with leaders of localities on July 4, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc also stressed that the Government would seek to attract more foreign investors and would submit the plan to attract FDI to the Politburo.

The country will prioritize leading companies with hi-tech and environmentally friendly projects, PM Phuc said, adding that a working team in charge of attracting new FDI would be established. The Government will then set up criteria to choose foreign investors.

The Politburo also issued a directive improving the leadership and instruction over drug control, replacing Directive 21-CT/TW dated March 26, 2018, based upon a proposal by the Party Committee of the Ministry of Public Security, opinions of the relevant agencies, outcomes of the 10-year implementation of Directive 21 and urgent needs at present.

Additionally, after considering a proposal by Tap Chi Cong San (Communism Review), a magazine published by the Party Central Committee, and consulting with the relevant agencies, the Politburo issued a new decision on the tasks, functions and the organization of the magazine.

The Politburo also made decisions on the appointment of officials under its management, based upon a proposal by the Party Central Committee’s Organization Commission.
