Large-cap stocks lift market
Shares gained in Thursday morning trading thanks to the positive movement of some blue-chips.
On the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange, the VN-Index rose 0.52 per cent to 993.51 points.
The index lost 0.11 per cent to close at 988.41 points on Wednesday.
A total of 81.5 million shares worth VND1.8 trillion (US$77 million) were traded in the southern market.
Some banking stocks rallied such as Bank for Investment and Development (BID), Asia Commercial Bank (ACB), Vietinbank (CTG) and Vietcombank (VCB). BID increased by 1.3 per cent to VND34,900 per share. ACB rose 1.3 per cent to VND23,900 per share. VCB climbed 0.4 per cent to VND77,200 per share.
The large-cap VN30-Index was up 0.36 per cent to 890.60 points. Fourteen of the top 30 largest shares by market value and liquidity gained and 10 declined.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased 0.40 per cent to 106.86 points.
The index had fallen 0.56 per cent to 106.12 points on Wednesday.
