A total of 75 enterprises had awards bestowed upon them at the Vietnam National Quality Awards, demonstrating the efforts in production, business, and service provision, and promoting the stature of Vietnamese products and services in both domestic and foreign markets.
C.P. Vietnam – a leading safe food producer in Vietnam – was one such company honoured at the event which was held on June 23 and organised by the Directorate for Standards, Metrology and Quality under the Ministry of Science and Technology. C.P. Vietnam topped the two categories of closed process in pig breeding for its brands in the southern province of Dong Nai, and food processing for its Phu Nghia plant in Hanoi. This is the second time that the company has received a prestigious prize following the award in 2013 for its animal feed plant in the southern province of Binh Duong.
The new accolades are the result of the company’s unyielding efforts to co-operate with Vietnamese farmers to develop a modern and sustainable animal husbandry industry, benefiting farmers and ensuring clean and safe products complying with international standards.
C.P. Vietnam focuses on developing pig breeds by a pyramid breeding system with four levels of great grand parent, grand parent, parent stock and commercial finishing pigs.through a four-generation model (great grandparents, grandparents, parents, and the current generation of pigs), applying modern genetic technology to select and improve the quality of offspring. As a result, it has built stable, disease-free breeding herds that meet domestic pig production needs with an increase of 25 per cent in productivity compared to its launch, while at the same time meeting international standards.
In addition, C.P. Vietnam is also continuously researching ways to upgrade its farming system with the aim of reducing expenses for construction and maintenance, human resources, water, and electricity while still achieving maximum effectiveness.
Kieu Minh Luc, deputy general director of C.P. Vietnam, said, “Thanks to these upgrades, our modern farm system will save 5 per cent of construction costs, 30 per cent of electricity, 40 per cent of water, and especially 50 per cent of the expenditure for treating wastewater. This is a significant reduction in the volume of wastewater.”
“The present pig farming of C.P. Vietnam will be a good model for Vietnamese farmeres to shift to new industrial production,” Luc added.
Regarding food processing, the company continues diversifying its high-quality processed food products while ensuring food safety and hygiene, as well as reasonable prices so that they suit the domestic consumption and export demand. In order to provide the highest quality, C.P. Vietnam works in a closed production chain with strict supervision throughout the feed-farm-food process. The Phu Nghia food processing plant in Hanoi was built under European standards with high technology to manufacture food that can be exported to European countries.
“In order to ensure the best quality of meat and avoid losing meat weight, C.P. Vietnam has specialised trucks to transport live pigs to the slaughterhouse and raw meat and processed products to stores,” said Sakchai Chatchaisophon, director of the Phu Nghia food processing plant.
C.P. Vietnam also supplies dozens of high-quality processed food products like sausages, Vietnamese ham, Chinese sausages, and fried chicken. These fast food items are distributed at more than 6,000 points of sale including modern supermarkets, convenience stores, and traditional markets, while 500 places sell Five Star fried chicken, as well as 1,000 distribution points sell C.P. Vietnam’s fresh pork across the country.
Being presented these awards will motivate C.P. Vietnam to redouble efforts and work harder toward its target to modernise the Vietnamese agricultural sector, to become model in the region, and then step-by-step turn Vietnam into the world’s kitchen.
