Shares mixed on morning trade
The benchmark VN-Index on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange rose 0.06 per cent to close at 963.49 points.
On the southern exchange, 133 stocks advanced while 135 declined.
More than 76.3 million shares were traded on the bourse, worth VND1.7 trillion (US$73 million).
The benchmark index rose 0.48 per cent to close Monday at 962.90 points.
On the Ha Noi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index increased by 0.04 per cent to end at 190.88 points.
Nearly 14.4 million shares were traded on the northern market, worth VND152 billion.
The northern market index dropped 0.20 per cent to end Monday at 103.99 points.
A number of large-cap stocks such as Vinhomes (VHM), Vinamilk (VNM), Vietjet Air (VJC), Sabeco (SAB) and Việt Nam National Petroleum Group (PLX) all fell, dragging the indices with them.
Oil and gas stocks all decreased due to falling world oil prices. PetroVietnam Gas JSC (GAS) dropped 0.4 per cent to VNĐ103,100, while PetroVietnam Drilling and Wells Service (PVD) dropped 1.1 per cent to VNĐ18,650.
Oil prices yesterday lost more than 1 per cent as trade tension continued to threaten demand for crude oil and major oil producers like Russia and Saudi Arabia not agreeing to extend an agreement to restrict production. Brent futures fell 1.6 per cent to $62.29 per barrel.
On the other side, stocks Military Bank (MBB), Kido Group (KDC), Vietcombank (VCB) and Vingroup (VIC) gained slightly and narrowed the decline of the general market.
The large-cap VN30-Index was up 0.06 per cent to end at 873.01 points with 13 of the 30 largest stocks by market value and trading liquidity progressing.
