Vietnamese startup crowned champion at Startup World Cup 2019

Local startup Abivin, which offers logistics software to companies, won the US$1-million investment grand prize at Startup World Cup 2019.

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Abivin beat startup competitors from over 40 countries and territories to secure the first prize at the grand finale event held in the United States’ San Francisco on May 17.

Earlier, Abivin was the champion of the Innovative Technopreneur Contest at Techfest Vietnam 2018. Through its collaboration with the ministry, it became Vietnam’s representative at the Startup World Cup, competing with startups from Japan, the United States, Canada and Brazil.

Abivin is reportedly the first Vietnamese startup to win the world startup grand prize.

The company has leveraged the use of advanced technology, including artificial intelligence (AI), to provide logistics software. It will use the investment prize to continue developing AI-powered products to create optimal routing plans.

Further, Abivin plans to expand its business in Hanoi and HCMC and to open offices in overseas destinations such as Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand.

The Startup World Cup, hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures, is the world’s leading startup competition, gathering many experts who are experienced investors from Silicon Valley and other startup businesses around the world.
