SBBS and KTZ to provide corporate advisory services to ASEAN clients

SaigonBank Berjaya Securities JSC (SBBS), a licensed securities company in Vietnam operating as a joint venture between a Malaysian company and local partners, and KT ZMICO Securities Co., Ltd. (KTZ) from Thailand announced a collaboration that will allow clients from partner countries to access corporate advisory services.

The collaboration between SBBS and KTZ is expected to bring synergy to both sides by utilising their strengths in retail brokerage and investment banking experience while extending services to clients in regional countries like Malaysia, Myanmar, and Laos in addition to Vietnam and Thailand. These services include primary market/investment banking, secondary markets, and other related services like cross-border securities brokerage and strategic partnership.

Josephine Yei Pheck Joo, CEO of SBBS, and chief investment banking officer of KTZ Wirach Morakotkarn, shared their view: “We both feel like business should not be contained within existing country borders and that we could capitalise on each other’s presence to widen business borders with our local presence and knowledge to better serve our existing clients and to build our network and branding."

"We are very excited to see the progress and the collaboration marks another great milestone as we are combining both companies’ strengths in talents and resources to give a more comprehensive experience and services while reducing competition and costs,” they said.

Nguyen Hoai Nam, chairman of SBBS, and Kraithip Krairiksh, chairman of KTZ, represented the two companies to sign the memorandum of understanding, witnessed by the Consul Generals of both countries, Sofian Akmal Abd Karin from Malaysia and Apirat Sugondhabhirom from Thailand.

SBBS is a joint-venture stock brokering company between Malaysia based Inter-Pacific Securities Sdn., Bhd. Of Berjaya Corporation Berhad (BCorp) and local Vietnamese partners Saigon Bank for Industry & Trade and Ky Hoa Tourist Trading Company. The presence of SBBS in Vietnam since January 2009 to the present has given the company sufficient knowledge about the Vietnamese capital market. In addition to local shareholders’ support, the company also enjoys the continuous sharing of experience from the advanced know-how by the parent company in Malaysia, and support from BCorp on its investment experience in Asia.

Meanwhile, KTZ is a member of Krung Thai Bank (KTB) Group with major shareholders of KTB and Seamico Securities Pcl. in Thailand. KTZ has strong foundations in the Indochina region. Their presence not only in Thailand but Vietnam, Myanmar, and Laos provides a comprehensive set of services across the Indochina region. KTZ provides investment banking, securities, wealth and asset management services to corporate and multi-national companies looking to build a presence in Thailand and its neighbouring countries.
